"God wanted me to be here"By Libby Visinand
Many of us coming to Grand Rapids from abroad have horror stories to tell about our travel -- 36 hour journeys, flights missed, long waits at airports and so on. But maybe the story to top them all is that of a delegate from France, Roger-Michel Bory of the Reformed Church of France. On arrival in Minneapolis, his flight to Grand Rapids was cancelled, and it was arranged he and other passengers should stay overnight in a nearby hotel. As they waited for transport, a minibus was trying to park nearby. Instead of backing into a parking spot, the driver accidentally accelerated and crashed into the group of waiting passengers. Bory and two others were injured and taken to hospital. Bory says he is lucky to have escaped with "just" a broken foot. He could have been killed. "God must have wanted me to be here" he says. So if you see a gentleman from France hobbling along with one foot in a support boot, give him a warm welcome -- he was destined to be here! |
